TRAVEL CLUE..

Here some traveling tips for your convenience while having a trip to Indonesia.

Before Leaving
  1. Allow plenty of time to get the relevant visa.
  2. Read up about your destinations before leaving so you can enjoy yourself straight away on arrival.
  3. Try to get a good night’s sleep. Stress and anxiety can cause headaches, upset stomach and disturb sleep patterns
  4. Check out travel deals that are available on the Internet.

WOMEN TRAVELERS

Here some tips for women travelers...
Bulukumba is generally perfectly safe for women travelers, even for those who are traveling alone. Common sense prevails of course, and young travelers should be cautious about lingering in isolated and lonely places at night. If you want to avoid it then pay attention to the local norms of dressing and behavior.

When visiting Indonesia, visitors should observe local customs and practices. These aspirations should come naturally to everyone on the road. Your heart may be in the right place, but often you don't know exactly how to be ethical or responsible when you travel. Following these rules won't guarantee a completely damage-free trip,

DON'T FORGET THIS THINGS...

Whatever the reason backpacking is an experience most of you will cherish for years to come. The world offers so many different experiences which are hard to reach on normal package holidays. Travelling during Ramadan

Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims. It normally falls around August & September. You should be aware that levels of observance of Ramadan will vary in different countries and cultures but most Muslims will conform to some extent with the requirements of the fast - which they fast between dawn and sunset. This means they can’t eat, drink, smoke or even chew gum during daylight hours. Muslims use this time of abstention for prayer, contemplation and charitable work.

HEALTH

International health certificates for smallpox and cholera are not required, except from travellers arriving from infected areas.

DEHYDRATION & SUNBURN
The sun is strong throughout the year in the country. Proper care against sunburn must be constantly taken. Dehydration and loss of salt through perspiration are two other common problems for the unprepared traveler. Drink plenty of fluids and replace your salt loss. Make sure you pack clothing suitable for a warm humid climate.

TRAVEL with TOUR AGENT

If you traveling with travel agents, make sure you have to write in your hand book the name/person who wants to pick you up (it usually a guide) on each your destinations. it should be a phone number or cellular number.

Baggage.
Losing baggage is a scary scenario for every traveler. Imagine your self at the airport, waiting for your bag to come around the baggage carousel. The people around you slowly empty the conveyer belt, yet yours seems nowhere to be found. Now, the conveyer belt is empty and your heart begins to flutter. Your brows furrow, worried, and you feel frustrated waiting for your bag to arrive. The conveyer belt begins to slow down, and you sense that the inevitable has happened. and then it stops. Your baggage is lost.

HOLIDAY

The Government in a joint decree issued by the Minister of Religion, Minister of Manpower and Transmigrations and the Minister, and the State Minister for Administrative Reform declared the following official holidays for 2010, and it means our office also will be close for all those period :

CLOTHING

  1. Dress is normally informal in Indonesia due to the warm, humid climate and clothing of light fabrics is recommended. 
  2. With temperatures ranging between 20-35½oC, light, casual clothes are the most practical. 
  3. Natural fibers like cotton or linen are the most comfortable in Indonesia's often humid conditions. 
  4. Casual clothes are acceptable in most places and a lightweight suit and tie are usual for business or formal meetings.
  5. Light cotton dresses are generally acceptable in most situations.

TIMEZONE

Archipelago is spread over three time zones:
  1. Western Indonesia Standard Time, which covers the islands of Sumatra, Java & Madura, West and Central Kalimantan is 7 hours ahead of GMT
  2. Central Indonesia Standard Time covers East and South Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, and is 8 hours ahead of GMT
  3. Eastern Indonesia Standard Time, which covers Maluku, and Irian Jaya is 9 hours ahead of GMT.

Passport
Passport is valid at least 6 months from date of entry is required.

CURRENCY

  1. The unit of currency is Indonesia Rupiah indicated as IDR (Rp).
  2. The Rupiah come in denominations of 100.000, 50.000, 10.000, 5.000, 1.000, 500, and 100.
  3. Euro1 is roughly equivalent to IDR 11.500,-.
  4. Foreign currency can be converted at banks and money changers.
  5. When changing money there are many money changers in Indonesia.
